Supermoon Sunset Nature Walk
March 20, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm| $20
Supermoon Sunset Nature Walk with Lanny Kaufer
500 E. Ojai Ave.
Ojai CA 93023
Join me for an unforgettable experience: a nature walk during the rare convergence of the full supermoon rising and the sun setting on the evening of the Vernal Equinox, all overlooking the beautiful Ojai Valley (Valley of the Moon). We’ll meet at the Park-and-Ride lot downtown at 5 p.m. and carpool to the Shelf Road trailhead to minimize the parking situation on N. Signal St. From there we’ll gradually walk up to a vista point, stopping along the way to meet some valuable native plants.
After witnessing the simultaneous setting of the sun and rising of the full moon (the last in a series of 3 supermoons this year) at 7:05 p.m., we’ll walk back to the trailhead by full moon and flashlight, returning to the Park-and-Ride by 8 p.m.
From there you’re invited to join me across the street for Wednesday Happy Hour beverages, appetizers or dinner at Azu Restaurant and Ojai Valley Brewery where brewmaster Jeremy Haffner has created some truly delicious lager-style craft beers and ales using some of the same local plants we’ll meet on the trail.
The cost is $20 for adults or $15 for full-time students 13-17 and seniors 62-and-older. No pre-payment is required to register. Kids 5-12 can go free, one per adult, by prior arrangement. Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No smoking and no dogs, please.
