Our mission at Matilija Junior High School is to create a nurturing, safe environment that focuses on the unique academic, emotional, social and physical needs of adolescents as they make the transition from elementary school to high school.
Matilija staff and administration are committed to offering shared decision-making, with the objective of providing a quality academic curriculum, and a variety of experiences and maximum opportunities for success.

Welcome to Matilija Junior High, where our goal is to enrich and nurture student achievement and academic excellence. Matilija staff and administration provide a stimulating and rigorous curriculum through the teaching of the California Content Standards. Our highly-qualified teachers are determined to raise student achievement by using data-driven and research-based instructional strategies.
We are committed to providing a safe and orderly campus that has a zero tolerance for bullying/harassment, including cyber-bullying.
Each student is given the opportunity to participate in a variety of enrichment opportunities through our exploratory programs, music, support classes and after-school clubs and sports.
Matilija is a school that values each child’s personal growth, academically and socially, in preparation for the challenges and opportunities in high school and beyond.
