SUMMARY:ALIGNMENT HEALINGS - Alignment Yoga and Qigong (Sarzotti Park)
DESCRIPTION:Alignment Yoga and Qigong\n\n\n\nLepeng has been teaching group Yoga and Pilates classes at gyms and yoga studios for the past 10 years. She has witnessed many people\, especially older people struggle in typical Yoga classes as well as other strenuous workout classes in the gym. Unless you have been consistently practice Yoga and workout regularly\, the typical yoga and pilates classes are not natural or even suitable for our bodies and it can also hurt us and cause unnecessary injuries. \nEven though she grew up in China\, Lepeng was not interested in practicing Qigong and Tai Qi until she is in her forties. She started to experience and understand the benefit of Qigong movement as she gets older and becomes more in tune with the subtle flow of  energy patterns in her body. According to ancient integral medical theory\, disease is the manifestation of energy disorder and aberration within the body. It is a state in which the various organs and the nervous system are functioning incorrectly or inadequately in a manner which is either too slow or fast\, too weak or strong. When the energy flows through the channels unimpeded and various organs are in a state of equilibrium\, one is healthy. If the energy becomes imbalanced or blocked\, disease manifests. Disease indicates that the energy flow needs to be corrected. Through the calmness and relaxation generated by Qigong movement\, the vitality which has been blocked within a tense and imbalanced body is released and allowed to restore and sustain natural health. \nLepeng designed this movement class to help people to enjoy movement in a way that feels good\, flows the energy and trains the mind.  And you don’t have to go fast\, be competitive and worry about injures. The class starts with gentle flow of Qigong to warm up the body and open up all the energy channels in the body\, then we use 6-feet wooden sticks to help us stretch in ways that we normally would not be able to without it. The last 30-minutes of  the class\, Lepeng lead people through some gentle yoga poses to strengthen and further stretch the entire body so you feel so relaxed and peaceful after the final relaxation pose on the ground. She truly believes this is a movement class almost everyone can benefit and enjoy. \n\n\n\nMonday 9:30am to 11am at Sarzotti park\nWednesday 9:30am to 11am at Sarzotti park\n\nFriday 9:30am to 11am at Sarzotti park\n\n\nPlease contact Lepeng at 818-853-3033 or email alignmenthealings@gmail.com for detailed information

With a comparable population and boasting both a vibrant arts community and a spectacular natural environment\, Moab appeared similar to Ojai in many ways. On his return from Utah\, it occurred to Steve that if Moab supported a thriving film festival\, why not Ojai? From that idea\, came the inception of the Ojai Film Festival. \nOn November 15\, 2000\, nearly two years of intensive effort by more than a hundred volunteers culminated in the opening of the first Ojai Film Festival to an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response from filmmakers and filmgoers alike. The Ojai Film Festival launched with two goals in mind: \n\nTo provide audiences with opportunities to see groundbreaking work otherwise inaccessible.\nTo provide filmmakers with an enthusiastic audience including film industry professionals.\n\nIn early 2002\, the festival established itself as an independent nonprofit foundation\, dedicated to expanding the traditions created during the first two years of operation. Now in its twenty-second year\, the festival continues its commitment to enriching the human spirit by seeking out important films that in some way uplift people\, help audiences feel good about being members of the human race or encourage them to live meaningful lives inspired by the examples of others. Over the past few years\, the Ojai Film Festival has expanded its creative platform with Focus Earth\, a mini-festival of films and panels that focus on environmental issues presented by local filmmakers and community experts\, and a screenwriting competition. The Festival has developed a full-day education program for regional high school students that regularly sees more than 200 students come to Ojai for one day of seminars and film screenings. \nThe Ojai Film Festival showcases the special character and spirit of Ojai\, with its rich history from the Chumash Indians to famous gurus. For many years\, spiritual teachers and Hollywood celebrities have felt drawn to the beauty of Ojai\, making the Ojai Film Festival a perfect setting for bringing filmmakers together to celebrate their talents and inspire creativity. \nThe Festival provides audiences a diverse lineup of titles from around the world. Past entries have represented over 43 countries. The Ojai Film Festival gives filmmakers access to a highly appreciative audience of savvy film fans. That the Ojai Film Society’s Program Director\, Steve Grumette\, continues to receive invitations to serve as a juror at other festivals reflects the growing importance on the Ojai Festival. This recognition of Ojai’s festival is reflected in the fact that legendary Hollywood producer Peter Guber told the audience at a recent Toronto International Film Festival that “Ojai is the next Telluride.” \nThe allure of the beautiful mountains of the Ojai valley\, just a short drive from Los Angeles\, draws high profile visitors who enjoy its quiet seclusion and artistic environment. The Festival is understood to be a leading regional event and an unparalleled educational program having gained recognition among an audience drawn from throughout Ventura\, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles counties.

SUMMARY:OJAI PERFORMING ARTS THEATER - A Grand Night in Ojai
DESCRIPTION:OPAT to Bring The Songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein to Ojai in November\n\nThe Ojai Performing Arts Theater (OPAT) announces a celebration of the 80-year partnership of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II\, who many critics have called the greatest songwriters in American theater. The musical revue will be staged on November 4\, 5\, and 6 at Matilija Auditorium in Ojai. It is called\, A Grand Night for Ojai: The Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein. \nRichard Camp\, Artistic Director of the non-profit company\, has assembled a team of seven outstanding musical artists and an orchestra led by music director Andy Street\, formerly of “American Idol.” Singers include Scott White and Laura Dekkers\, seen as Don Quixote de la Mancha and Dulcinea/Aldonza in OPAT’s 2019 production of “Man of La Mancha.” \nOther cast members are Brooks Hope\, Casey Robbins\, Angelica Smith\, Sophie Holt\, and Talya Sindel. In addition\, the children’s choir\, The Pixies\, will lend their support to the revue. \nThe show is all music\, all the time\, with very little dialogue in the evening. “The songs are outstanding and so well-known that they need no introduction\,” Camp said. “The song list is lengthy including such songs as\, O What a Beautiful Morning\, I Can’t Say No\, Honey Bun\, Kansas City\, This Nearly was Mine\, Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair\, If I Loved You\, and many more. \n“I wanted OPAT to produce a show that celebrates these two giants of musical theater while making us feel glad to be back attending live performances after the pandemic\,” said Joan Kemper\, Executive Producer at OPAT. \n\nTickets can be purchased by clicking on the button below.\nPrices are $30 for seniors and students and $40 for general admission. Telephone orders at 805-640-5814.\n\nBUY TICKETS
