SUMMARY:OJAI PLAYWRIGHTS CONFERENCE - OPC New Works Festival
DESCRIPTION:For more than two decades the Ojai Playwrights Conference has brought together established and emerging playwrights to develop compelling new plays for the American theatre. \nIn 2022 — our 25th season — we are thrilled to be back IN PERSON in OJAI for our SUMMER CONFERENCE and NEW WORKS FSTIVAL (August 7-14). The week-long festival features new play workshops\, Intersection events\, young artist shows and special receptions.  \nThe Ojai Playwrights Conference also offers two educational programs: the OPC Intern Program (for college students) and the OPC Youth Workshop Program (for high school students). Both provide opportunities for young artists to engage with playwrights and artistic staff and to be mentored in the creation of their own original works\, presented as part of the New Works Festival. \n  \nOPC25: THE LEGACY CONTINUES\n\nZalk Theater at Besant Hill School\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nINTERSECTION EVENT\nSPECIAL OPENING NIGHT PROGRAM\nVeteran OPC playwrights Jon Robin Baitz\, Bill Cain\, Stephen Adly Guirgis and Charlayne Woodard on stage with 2022 writers-in-residence Lyndsey Bourne and Zora Howard with Artistic Director/Producer Robert Egan. These dynamic playwrights will discuss their experiences developing new works in Ojai\, and will perform select pieces from their work just for this occasion.
