The stage is set, the curtains are drawn, and the Youth Branch at the Ojai Art Center is all geared up to bring the beloved fairy tale characters of Shrek The Musical JR to life! Directed by the talented Gai Jones and Assistant Director Maryann Shilo, this eagerly anticipated production promises to be a delightful treat for audiences of all ages. They are joined by Producers Kelly Hollis and Suzy Thatcher, Vocal Director Rebecca Comerford, and Choreographer Brianna Turner. Shrek The Musical JR is a heartwarming adaptation of the beloved DreamWorks animated film ‘Shrek,’ tailored specifically for children to perform. The show revolves around the isolated green ogre, Shrek, whose peaceful life is turned upside down when his swamp is overrun by a horde of fairy tale creatures, banished to his swamp by the tyrannical Lord Farquaad. Determined to reclaim his home, Shrek strikes a deal with Farquaad to rescue Princess Fiona on his behalf from a tower guarded by a ferocious dragon, so that Farquaad can become King and Shrek can get his swamp back. However, as the quest unfolds, Shrek discovers that true friendship and love can be found in the most unexpected places.
