Fall Tour: More Variety Than Ever!

Offering visitors a rare inside look at the working spaces of more than 70 artists in the Ojai Valley, this year’s Ojai Studio Artists (OSA) Tour is the biggest event in the group’s 38-year history, drawing on the legacy of world-class figures such as Beatrice WoodHorace Bristol, and Otto and Vivica Heino and giving collectors and the curious a first look at the work of an exciting crop of seventeen new members.

OSA includes abstract, figurative, plein air, and experimental artists working in paint, clay, fiber, metal, stone, photography, wood, glass, assemblage, and collage. Some are known around the world, like luminaries Theodore T. Gall, Joseph Sohm, and Sherry Loehr and whose exhibitions and work have been featured in The New York Times, Architectural Digest, Wall Street Journal, and National Geographic. Newer members include a digital projection mapper, a doll-maker, and a clothing designer with a cult following.

The array of workspaces is as delightful and eclectic as the work created inside. These spaces range from charming, paint-spattered nooks shrouded by century-old oak trees to sleek, modern spaces with airy, high ceilings and jaw-dropping views. OSA members are welcoming and eager to talk, providing tour-goers a rare opportunity to delve into the artists’ processes.

The three-day 2022 OSA Tour experience runs from October 8 through 10. With over seventy open studios from which to choose, a smart first stop is Perception & Persistence, a group exhibition hosted by the Ojai Valley Museum, now open until October 10. The exhibit provides art lovers a place to preview all of the OSA artists’ work under one roof and plan their self-determined itinerary accordingly. This year’s Ojai Studio Artists Tour is FREE, with donations encouraged. Guests must register online to receive the map and information to guide them through the valley.
