The Poppies Book Club

The next meeting of the Poppies Book Club will take place Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. at a private residence in Ojai.
Members will discuss “The Open Book: A Family Memoir of Adventure, Trauma, and Resilience,” by Roselle Madrone, Robin Detmer, and Kris Dutter. The local authors will attend the meeting to talk about their book, a collective history of their lives from different perspectives. The story follows a woman and her two daughters from Belize to the United States and the challenges they face. Copies of the book are sold at Poppies.
The group discussion is free and open to interested adults. Read the book in advance. Bring a chair and wear warm clothing. This is the last book club meeting for 2022; the club will not meet in December.
Poppies Art and Gifts carries locally made jewelry, photography of Ojai and other places, paintings, pottery, décor, books by local authors, and more. Store hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through December (closed on holidays).
